During my recent stay at New York Hotel JB, I found the service to be quite basic. Upon check-in, I was handed just one room card per room, and there was no introduction to the hotel or information about amenities such as breakfast unless I specifically asked.
In terms of amenities, the hotel did not meet the expectations of a 4-star property. There was only shampoo provided-no conditioner-and towels were limited to bath towels and a single floor mat, with no face or hair towels available. The TV remote and the room’s master control panel were both non-functional.
The condition of the room was disappointing. I had booked a Premier King Room, but noticed water stains and mold on both the ceiling and floor, indicating previous leakage. The bathroom flooded easily when using the tap or shower, and the bathtub had a visible crack, making it feel unsafe to use. The floor was slippery and soapy, and I nearly slipped during my stay. The bed was firm but felt old and had lost much of its cushioning. Additionally, the windows were stained and dusty, suggesting they had not been cleaned, and the headboard showed signs of peeling upholstery and wear.
On a positive note, the room did provide some basic comforts: the air conditioning was cold, water pressure was strong and hot, and there were complimentary paper slippers. The room itself was spacious, featuring a couch, a good-sized working table, and an office chair. Location wise, it is central and well served by shops around.
Overall, while some essentials were present, the overall experience did not align with the hotel’s advertised star rating.
